Michael Planell

Mike Planell is an Associate in the Firm’s Litigation Department.  Mike has extensive experience in all phases of complex civil litigation from inception to trial.  He regularly appears in state and federal courts throughout New York, as well as in other jurisdictions.  His experience includes briefing and arguing dispositive motions, taking and defending depositions of expert and fact witnesses, identifying and developing expert witnesses on complicated causation and damages issues, and managing discovery in complex cases.  He has also played a key role in numerous trials and arbitration hearings.  

 

Mike has litigated matters involving breach of contract, business torts, partnership and shareholder disputes, unfair competition, trade secrets, employment disputes, and other complex disputes.  In addition, Mike has significant experience handling matters in arbitration and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.  Prior to joining the Firm, Mike was associated with two international law firms, where he represented clients in a broad array of commercial, class action, and product liability litigation.    

 

Mike graduated cum laude from Fordham Law School in 2003, where he was a member of the Fordham Law Review and the Order of the Coif.  He also received a Dean’s Merit Scholarship, the Fordham Law School Prize, and the Hugh R. Jones Award.  Mike obtained his undergraduate degree with honors from Loyola College in Maryland.

 

Mike is admitted to practice in New York State, as well as the United States District Courts for the Southern, Eastern and Western Districts of New York.
